Now to this year and my '79 Trans Am . . .

Gettin' down to it. The Junk TA Cat is on guard on the roof -- ever vigilant to prevent "mouse" motors from sneaking in and nesting in the engine bay.

It's home to a Pontiac 462ci / DNE 5 speed that won't receive much work until the handling and driver are re-tested and improved.

Stripped down and getting ready to re-engineer the front suspension. I'm adding poly graphite bushings to the sub frame where it connects to the body. I'll use a one-piece glass front end tilted in the front for easy access.

Everything underneath is coming off and most is being replaced or relocated. The rear end will undergo extensive modification and the exhaust will move out from under the car. For now, the plan is to go with a 9" Ford and four-link setup.

My thanks to Ron Ver Mulm at R & S Racing for telling me about his Camaro and kind of saying where weight can be saved. :-) I'll run the Wide 5 hubs on the rear also.

I'm still calculating the double A-arm lengths, track, and mounting locations. Here you see the Coleman spindles using GM calipers and Wilwood hubs & rotors.
